There wasn't much there when we looked, after years of looting....

I had a good scout around SK 22429 85704 yesterday (08/01/2023) and came up with diddly even though I climbed all over the rockfall and gave the many crevices between the rocks a good coat of looking using a torch. Bloody magpies! This is definitely the same spot I visited with my Dad in the 80s when there was a fair bit of wreckage scattered all over the rockfall. He said the big pieces came to rest on the moor above but they were recovered in the clean-up operation.

It doesn't seem right there's nothing there. I've ordered a brass plaque that I'll fix to the rock at the grid ref above when I return. It'll be this year and I'll share when done. I will have a scoot around the moor above on the same visit - you never know :)

Thanks, John, I'll be interested in what you find....

I put the plaque up at the crash site last Friday. I fixed it to the rockface about halfway up the rockfall at SK 22440 85699. We found nothing on the moor above but my mate did unearth a couple of small aluminium fragments lower down, below the rockfall which we placed on a ledge near to the plaque.

I've set this album to Public so you should be able to view it:

Cheers, John. I may have to revisit sometime. I vaguely remember where we found the bits....I do remember we found nothing higher than the rockfall...
